The Company

BSV are recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer with design experience within the Building Services industry, on behalf of a multi-disciplinary firm of Professional Engineers, with a world class reputation within the Building Services sector. The candidate will have the ability to take projects from conception though to completion and will be qualified with a Mechanical discipline.

The Mechanical Project Engineer will create, develop and finalise Mechanical engineering services advice and designs as well as monitoring site installation works. The candidate will join the Building Services section to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors.

The candidate will provide engineering capability to the Building Services Section of the Peterborough office. Support of other regional offices including Birmingham and Northampton will be required from time to time.

The Role


The successful candidate will work within multi-discipline design teams and with the Senior Project Engineer or an Associate Director on major projects. As the role develops he/she will be responsible for the project management of complex projects for Clients in the Automotive, Industrial, Education, Leisure, Healthcare, Residential and Public Sectors. This will include Client liaison, design, interface with project teams and contract implementation. With previous knowledge and expertise on energy projects the candidate should ideally want to develop their career to cover this growth area.

Experience required:-

The candidates will have experience across the breadth of Mechanical Building Services such as:-

Heating systems
Ventilation systems
Comfort cooling systems
Air conditioning systems
Hot and cold water systems
Above ground drainage systems
Automatic control systems


The ability to operate as part of a project team, within appropriate authority levels and to represent the company with confidence to a variety of Clients and outside organisations. The candidate will be well motivated, innovative and career minded.

Main responsibilities:-

Mechanical Building Services engineering design to company standards
Carrying out design calculations
Preparing technical specifications
Preparing drawings for drafting by others
Representing Rolton Group at meetings
Site surveys and inspections
Maintaining records and archives to company standards
Manage own workload

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications required:-

HND/HNC or MCIBSE/MIMechE approved Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services and working towards Chartered Status.

A good level of computer literacy in Windows, IES, TAS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software is required. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to utilise Revit.
