The Job

The Company

BSV are recruiting a Mechanical Project Manager on behalf of our client who was established over 45 years ago. They provide Mechanical and Electrical Installation Services for the Central London and Essex areas. They install a variety of Building Services system contracts, including new build and refurbishment projects with values ranging from £10k to £5 million. They provide an unrivalled blend of Mechanical & Electrical contracting in the commercial, technology and retail sectors.

You will perform Lead Mechanical Project/Contract duties which include the recruitment of team members at Project Engineer and Supervisor level. The ideal candidate will have served a traditional HVAC apprenticeship with a recognised Mechanical contractor and have proven knowledge of Heating, Electrical, ventilation and air-conditioning/ Refrigeration (HEVAC) disciplines. You will have progressed your career furthered to Mechanical Project Manager level.

The Role

As an Experienced Mechanical Project Manager you will have proven knowledge of delivery of contracts ranging in value from £500k up to £5 million within the Building Services Industry, with experience of managing multi-disciplined teams, Multiple Sub Contractors & Suppliers to ensuring that projects are completed on time, to budget, and with HSE safety criteria.

This is a permanent position with a Building Services Contractor to become an integral member of the team. You should be a pro-active team player with excellent interpersonal skills; quick to identify design flaws and installation defects, able to interpret Project Costs inc Profit & Loss Margins and have the ability to work on your own or as a strong team member, committed to succeed and to work under extreme contractual pressures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Required and undertaken by the Mechanical Project Engineer you will formulate Mechanical Cost Plans with the PQS (Client) and with the Mechanical specialist Sub Contractors and have responsibility for:

Managing a team of Project engineers
Producing financial cost plan reports for the Commercial Manager/ Directors
Quantifying all tender to Construction issue drawings
Producing Full Schedule of rates and agreeing rates with the Sub Contractors.
Producing Variation Schedule and applying costs associated with each design change
Producing Full Cost Plan schedule for all aspects of the M&E Installation.
Reviewing & Negotiating costs with specialist suppliers
Chairing Commercial Meetings with Clients, Sub Contractors, and suppliers.
Identifying Profit & Loss Margins where applicable
Agreeing Final Mechanical & Electrical SOR & Labour rates with both parties
Agreeing Design Change Variations with Client
Assisting and supporting the Technical Manager and reviewing designs by Consultants.
