Aninnovate, creative thinking engineering consultancy, who specialize in MEP, Environmental and Sustainability services. They work with architects, developers, designers and contractors on new and refurbishment projects. They are small but passionate team. They have opened position for a Principal or Assistant Civil Structural Engineer to join they team in Basingstoke (Hampshire) or West Kingsdown (Kent).

Principal Civil Structural Engineer will be a leader in helping take our business forward.With a focus on growth and excellent client relationships, we need someone who is driven by an aim to deliver remarkable results, high quality design delivery and great attention to detail.

The Role

Job responsibilities:

- To perform structural analysis and structural/civil engineering design and/or arrange/check such work performed by others to Eurocodes and/or other prevailing codes. Works may typically include bridge design, building design and/or refurbishment (railway stations, depots, etc.), drainage, car parks, arch viaducts, all from feasibility through the GRIP process. Completing Forms F001- F007 and Forms 1990 to 1997 etc.), London Underground CDS/DCC, Highway AIP’s etc. and RIBA/BSRIA processes.

- To ensure deadlines are achieved and client expectations are managed.

- To provide technical leadership and professional development for the civils/structural team.

- To review and approve Civil/Structural engineering calculations.

- To support fee proposal preparation, manage & build client relationships.

- Liaise closely with all levels of client management.

- To interface with clients and other disciplines (including M&E, SISS, Architecture, Track and Signals), attending and as required, chairing and minuting key meetings, and in particular IDC/IDR type rail meetings.

- To react to call outs, attending and/or arranging attendance to site, preparing clear and concise reports to summarise findings in an agreed report format.

- To act in the roles of CRE/CEM as required by Network Rail or TOC and assist with coordinating project assurance submissions.

- To provide support as required to support internal management of RISQS and ISO certifications, e.g. adherence to policies, processes etc.

- To attain the highest levels of health and safety awareness and fully understand and implement the duties of the Designer under the CDM Regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

- 8+ years relevant consultancy experience.

- Civils / Structural engineering background.

- Experience working on a mixture of projects in a variety of sectors i.e. Transportation, Commercial, Retail, Industrial but with a particular emphasis on rail.

- Structural / Civil design, buildings, roads and project administration, drawing and project document preparation, both to be able to lead and delegate through a team andbe hands on.

- Leading a team of engineers on projects.

- Experience of site inspection, witness testing and supervision of contractors.

- A good understanding of rail procedures on multi-disciplinary rail projects to coordinate would be beneficial but not essential.

- BEng or BSc and MICE or MIStructE,

- CEng or working towards.
