Electrical Design Engineer within Building Services? Stuck on one project for months on end? This job will change all that.

The Role

You will be working for a national Property Consultancy as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer overseeing electrical services design of both new-build and existing properties .

Rather than one project, your responsibities will include being a direct report for a variety of clients. Your knowledge of Fire Alarm, Small power, Data, Lighting, Containment, Schematics, Access Control, and Lightning will be put to use with sectors including Commercial and Residential.

  • Be given ownership and encouraged to explore Electrical design deliverables on numerous multi-disciplinary projects which could consisted of hotel/resort, commercial office building, office fit-outs, warehouse or residential schemes
  • Survey existing Electrical installations and report you findings to the Building Services manager
  • Prepare schematic drawings for Electrical design and Lighting design services alterations
  • Undertake Lighting Design calculations for Buildings using Dialux whilst adhering to lighting Standards (CIBSE).
  • Utilise Amtech to design basic Electrical circuits and undertake calculations, adhering to BS7671 Standards.
  • Actively take part in keeping technical schedules of all equipment selections up to date and need.
  • Work to deadlines appointed by the clients.
  • Work as part of a design team delivering reports, specifications, performance, energy usage and detailed electrical design solutions
  • Use specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM and other resources to design the compliant systems solutions
  • Undertake electrical design calculations to support and demonstrate compliance with client requirements aligned to the proposed solution
  • Oversee and assist with the preparations of Lighting and Equipment schedules, Prescriptive and Performance Specifications
  • Reviewing construction design details and making comment
  • Liaise with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams
  • Ensure that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
  • Advise clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint
  • Accompany Senior colleagues to Client and Design team external meetings

This job will give you the opportunity to work remotley where required.

This is a national Property Consultant with seven offices across the UK. This role is based in their busy London office where they have a very broad list of property types and owners. They have accrued a wealth of knowledge of property new build and refurbishment and are now experts in Building Surveying, Cost Management, Project Management and M&E Building Services.

They work in property sectors including Commercial, Education, Public Sector, Heritage, Retail and Hotel & Leisure to name just a few.

Qualifications

Our client is looking for sound knowledge of existing Electrical Building Services as well as the Electrical design of new. Relevant electrical engineering qualifications – Msc, Degree or HND, HNC
