This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the intersection of fire engineering and building services design, contributing to safe, compliant, and sustainable building projects across the UK. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure fire strategies comply with UK fire safety legislation, building regulations, and relevant guidance (e.g. ADB, BS 9999, BS 7974)
  • Collaborate with internal and external building services engineers, architects, structural engineers, and design consultants
  • Work closely with building control, fire authorities, and approving bodies to gain necessary approvals and maintain compliance
  • Participate in building services coordination meetings to ensure fire safety measures are effectively integrated
  • Conduct fire risk assessments, site visits, and reviews of building services layouts as part of strategy development
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practice within the fire engineering team, and mentor junior engineers as needed

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience developing fire strategies within the UK building services and construction industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of building services systems (e.g. smoke control, fire detection, suppression) and their role in fire safety design
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables independently, while also contributing to collaborative team environments
  • Working towards or holding chartership (e.g. with the IFE or CIBSE) is advantageous

What’s on Offer

  • A collaborative and inclusive working culture with a strong emphasis on technical learning and support
  • Clear and supported career progression, with structured mentoring, CPD, and exposure to a variety of building services projects
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements promoting a strong work-life balance
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile and complex buildings, where fire safety plays a key role in building services design
  • A permanent, full-time position based in London, with flexible office/home working
