Sustainability Consultant Ref 2021
Our client is a leading consultancy specialising in building performance and low-energy design and they are seeking a motivated and skilled Building Performance / Sustainability Consultant to join their growing building services team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The company works across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, and public buildings, with a focus on delivering measurable environmental impact through intelligent design support.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in SAP assessments, a solid understanding of Passivhaus principles, and a passion for energy efficiency and building services integration. You’ll work closely with architects, developers, and building services engineers to help optimise performance from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake SAP calculations, energy modelling, and compliance assessments for a range of new-build and retrofit projects
- Support the design and delivery of Passivhaus and low-energy buildings, ensuring integration with building services strategies
- Collaborate with design teams—including architects and building services consultants—to advise on compliance, performance, and energy targets
- Carry out thermal bridging analysis, overheating assessments, and other building performance calculations
- Prepare clear technical reports and client-facing documentation
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and support continuous improvement of building performance services
Sustainability Consultant Requirements
- Strong experience with SAP assessments and building compliance
- Familiarity with Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) and low-energy design standards
- A background in building services, sustainability consultancy, or energy assessment
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and written communication
- A proactive and hard-working mindset, with the ability to manage deadlines independently
- Passion for low-carbon design and improving the built environment
