An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within Building Services to join a growing and forward-thinking building services consultancy. This role will play a key part in shaping the development of our presence across Scotland and the North East, with a particular focus on Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle.

Initially remote, this role will evolve into a hybrid model as we establish our new Glasgow office. You’ll be instrumental in driving projects forward while contributing to regional strategy, technical delivery, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design across a variety of building services projects in commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and public sectors

  • Provide technical leadership on the design and delivery of Heat Networks, low-carbon energy systems, and sustainable infrastructure

  • Oversee the coordination of projects and teams across Glasgow/Edinburgh and Newcastle

  • Review and approve design calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports

  • Mentor junior engineers and support their development through technical reviews and hands-on guidance

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with current legislation, industry best practices, and decarbonisation targets

  • Actively contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations

About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward Chartership

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in mechanical design for building services

  • Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of Heat Networks (e.g. communal or district heating systems), energy centres, and associated infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of low-carbon technologies, renewable integration, and system optimisation

  • Skilled in relevant design tools such as IES, Hevacomp, Revit, and AutoCAD

  • Effective communicator with experience presenting to clients and coordinating multidisciplinary teams

  • Motivated, self-driven, and capable of operating independently while supporting the wider business

What’s on Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Flexible, remote-first working with a transition to hybrid in Glasgow
  • Opportunity to shape the future of a regional office and grow a team
  • A collaborative and empowering environment with career progression
  • Involvement in impactful, high-profile projects across the UK
