About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and well-established Building Services consultancy based in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role suited to someone who thrives in a collaborative, technically driven environment and is looking to take a strategic role in delivering high-quality, sustainable design solutions across complex healthcare and new-build projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage electrical design for healthcare, education, and commercial new-build projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce high-quality design documentation including schematics, specifications, and layout drawings to meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake site surveys, attend client and design team meetings, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure all designs meet technical, commercial, and program requirements, while adhering to current regulations and best practices.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
- Liaise with contractors, stakeholders, and end users to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Contribute to project bids, fee proposals, and design planning strategies.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent).
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in building services electrical design, including at least 2 years in a leadership or senior design capacity.
- Proven experience delivering projects in the UK healthcare sector (e.g., HTM compliance, hospital/clinical environments).
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE, BS7671, and relevant electrical standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and ideally Revit MEP.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and client-facing skills.
- Full right to work in the UK.
Desirable Attributes:
- Chartered Engineer or working toward CEng status (CIBSE, IET).
- Knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon design strategies, particularly in healthcare environments.
- Experience with electrical design for critical systems such as UPS, backup generation, medical systems, and BMS integration.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and collaboration.
